Hawaiian Helicopters – Tours to Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and Big Island

The Best Way to See Oahu, Hawaii, Kauai, and Maui? By Helicopter, Of Course! The essence of each Hawaiian Island is found in its most remote places. To experience it, you’ve got to take a helicopter ride.

I personally have pretty much flown every air tour offered. From the Big Island’s volcanoes and the West Maui’s Mountains to Oahu’s North Shore and Kauai’s Napali Coast, I’ve done it, and have loved every minute of it.

Hawaii gets a lot of visitors. Understandably, there’s a lot of choice out there when it comes to picking a helicopter flight. Like anything, it’s “buyer beware.” Unlike others, you have an edge: You found my site.

I’ve made all the mistakes. I’ve flown the good operators and I’ve flown the bad ones. Here on HawaiianHelicopter.net is where I distill all my positive experiences for the benefits of others. I like to think of it as virtual ‘ohana if you will.

To help you find the ideal helicopter tour, I’ve put created a quick list of the islands and included a link to my current favorite air tour operator. Check them out. Clicking’s free.

Big Island Helicopter Tours

Big Island (Hawaii)

Twice as big as all the other islands combined, the Big Island is home to world-famous Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Choppers fly to the most active lava regions where you’ll go face-to-face with lava flows from Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano. Nearby is snow-capped Mauna Kea, which, when measured from its underwater base, is taller than Mt. Everest! Northward, you’ve got the spectacular Hamakua Coast and the Waipio Valley, home to sheer, 2,000-foot cliffs and 1,200-foot waterfalls.

Oahu Helicopter Tours

Oahu

The range of sights on this island paradise will leave you breathless. Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor Memorial…that’s just a fraction of the list. Oahu is also known for its hidden valleys, cascading waterfalls, and white-sand beaches. There’s a wild side to this island and it’s represented by Mount Olomana, the undulating ridgelines of Nuuanu Pali, the steamy Nuuanu Valley rain forest, and the shimmering Dole pineapple plantations. Oh, and to top it off, there’s Honolulu!

Maui Helicopter Tours

Maui

Maui’s nickname is the Valley Isle. For good reason, too. Two volcanoes joined to make it. The oldest one has transformed into the breathtaking West Maui Mountains while the younger one has been re-christened the Haleakala Crater (the inside of the crater looks like the surface of the moon). The east part of the island is dense rain forest punctuated by humongous waterfalls that run right up to untamed shorelines. The Upcountry region is defined by rolling fields. Nearly 75% of Maui is inaccessible…except by helicopter.

Kauai Helicopter Tours

Kauai

Kauai, know as the Garden Isle, is the fourth largest of the Hawaiian Islands and the oldest. The landscape here is large and boisterous. The famous Napali Coast is a 14-mile wilderness area defined by colorful ridge lines and towering waterfalls. Nearby Waimea Canyon features a gorge so intrepid that its earned the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” Mount Waiʻaleʻale gets 460 inches of rain annually, making it the wettest place on the planet. Kauai also has spectacular beaches, the most spectacular is Hanalei Bay’s sandy crescent. Choppers can do a full circuit in an hour.

So much of the Hawaiian Islands are simply impossible to see on foot or by car. Or require Herculean effort to reach and enjoy. But not if you get airborne. In under an hour, helicopter tours can get you to the most beautiful, isolated spots in the archipelago. And have you back at the beach to work on that tan. It’s quite unbelievable, actually.

So, make this Hawaiian vacation extra special. Take a helicopter tour and really get to know The Islands.
